  • Psoriasis is a serious disease

Psoriasis is a serious disease that for a long time was not taken seriously.

Most often associated with patches of dry skin, and at other times with joint pain and stiffness, psoriasis is a non-contagious disease of the immune system that for millions of Americans is a daily impediment that impairs quality of life and is associated with other serious health problems, including diabetes, heart disease and even stroke.

Fortunately, psoriasis is often mild and stays mild. What’s more, treatments have dramatically improved in recent years, providing new hope to people with psoriatic disease. But those treatments are often expensive and some raise the specter of side effects. At the same time, psoriasis is more subject than many diseases to phony treatments and alleged cures that exist primarily to separate people from their money and to further demoralize them.

Psoriasis Cure Now is a nonprofit organization launched in 2005 to serve as an advocate for psoriasis patients. While we were growing rapidly for a while, and then decided to focus on our core goals and not engage in mission-creep, our mandate has never changed: be a voice for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis patients and their families.

After all, there are other organizations around to advance the interests of doctors, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and researchers. We have just one stakeholder: fellow psoriasis patients.

If you are a psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis patient, get educated and get treatment.
